What Is It?

Active Citizens is an international programme of learning which Women Making a Difference delivers in partnership with the British Council. The programme envisages a world where people feel empowered to engage peaceably and effectively with others in the sustainable development of their communities.

The course involves:

• An international learning programme that focuses on intercultural dialogue, community engagement, and active citizenship.

• Collaborating with other Active Citizen participants on the design and delivery of local social action projects.

• Engaging in an International Study Visit to host and receive global partners from countries around the world.

So if you want to bring about real change in your community – this is the course for you!

Thanks so much to all those that voted with their feet and joined us at the Cardiff Walk for Women!

We had a really great day and hope you all did too.

In the summer of 1913, around 50,000 women marched across Britain to London's Hyde Park to demonstrate for the right to vote.

Welsh Women's Summit 2013 - 21/03/2013

On the 21st of March 2013 Women Making a Difference hosted the Welsh Women's Summit: Bring Your Daughter to the Table. The event was organised with the assistance of our volunteers, the Ambassadors for Change group and sponsored by the Big Lottery. Our aim was to encourage more young women to 'come to the table' and share their views on what matters to them and their communities.

Since hosting the Summit we have produced a video (below) highlighting the day and a report, with some key facts and actions that participants are taking forward to make positive change for our communities across Wales.

Over the last three months we have held some great events; like our Annual Awards Ceremony which recognises the achievements of the women who have taken part in our courses over the last year.

We also held the successful Welsh Women's Summit again, which this year was all about 'Bringing your daughter to the table.' We were lucky enough to have Leah our fantastic photographer to capture both events on camera.
